Is upgrading to a 5060 Ti and 5700X3D a good move for 1080p gaming?

I'm considering an upgrade for my gaming setup since I've been using a 2080 Super, Ryzen 3700X, and 16GB of RAM since around 2020. Lately, my performance has been struggling, especially with 1080p gaming.

I want to stick with the AM4 platform for now because switching to AM5 would involve buying a new motherboard and RAM, which is a bit out of my budget right now. I'm planning to buy a new PSU if necessary, likely something around 750W for safety reasons.

I'm looking at getting a 5060 Ti paired with either a 5700X3D or 5800X3D, since the 5070 or 5070 Ti seem overkill and quite pricey in comparison. My main goal is to achieve stable 60fps+ without turning down my settings too much, especially since I prefer to keep ray tracing off.

Ultimately, I'd like to know if this upgrade would last me around 4 to 5 years while still playing at 1080p. Thanks in advance!

Upgrading to the 5700X3D and 5060 Ti is a good plan, especially for 1080p. You shouldn’t need AM5 for your needs right now. This combo should carry you comfortably for the next 4-5 years.

Yeah, I went with the 5700X last year and haven’t looked back. Paired with a solid GPU like the 3060, you’ll enjoy excellent performance.

While the 5700X3D works great, I’d recommend considering if the jump to AM5 is worth saving up for. The performance gains there are notable, and it could be cheaper in the long run. Just something to weigh!

I’m with you on this. It can be tough really weighing the good deals on AM4 versus future-proofing with AM5. Thanks for the perspective!

The 5700X3D is a solid choice! It’ll definitely give you longevity, around 8-9 years of good performance. Just make sure you get at least a 750W PSU to keep everything running smoothly. Enjoy your 1080p gaming!

Yeah, I'm all in on getting a new PSU for the extra peace of mind. Plus, I’ve always been happy with 1080p so it's good to see others sticking with it!

I feel you! 1080p is great, and with this setup, you'll have no problems. I've been playing some older titles there and they're running just fine!

You’re right about sticking with 1080p! I think a 5700X3D paired with a 5060 Ti should keep you above 60 fps for quite some time. Just keep in mind that in 5 years, you might want to consider upgrading again since games will keep pushing boundaries.

Totally agree! I’m still playing on 1080p, and it works perfectly fine for most titles now.
