Is the 9600x enough for 4K gaming with a 5070ti?

I'm in the process of building a gaming PC and planning to pair it with a 5070ti graphics card. My setup will be on a 4K 120Hz display, and I'm aiming for top-notch graphical quality while utilizing DLSS in any game that supports it. Should I consider upgrading to a 9800x3d instead of sticking with the 9600x? I'm confident the 9600x will handle my productivity needs, but I'm worried about its gaming performance. Will I experience frame drops, especially in busy scenes like those with many NPCs?

Just remember, even with a 9800x3d, the 5070ti is essentially a 1440p card. It can struggle at native 4K on the latest AAA titles to maintain 60fps. With DLSS, you might hit 120fps, but quality-wise, it won’t be as sharp. You’re trading off some graphical fidelity for that higher frame rate, especially since rendering at lower resolution and blowing it up can lead to blurred visuals. If you want higher frame rates without sacrificing too much quality, I'd recommend sticking with 1440 for now.

The 9800x3d is definitely better, but it’s also way more expensive. It’s worth asking yourself if that cost is justified for your gaming style. The 9600x will cover your bases for less cash. Just weigh how often you’ll be playing graphically intensive games at 4K.

It really depends on the game you’re playing, but 4K at 120fps seems a bit too optimistic for the 5070ti. Don't get me wrong, it can handle it, but don't be surprised if you see some dips, especially in hectic scenes with lots of action.

Honestly, the 9600x should be just fine for your needs. I have a 4070 ti paired with a 7600, and I’m getting great performance without needing a super expensive CPU. Don't let the hype get to you; you can definitely game without breaking the bank.
