I'm building my first PC and have decided to go with the Ryzen 7 7800X3D after finding a good deal on it. I'm looking for recommendations on motherboards that offer the best value for around $250 or less. Should I invest in a higher-quality motherboard for potential future upgrades, or would a cheaper option suffice for my current needs? I'm still learning about PC components, so any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Honestly, it feels less risky to start with a budget motherboard. Since the 7800X3D is quite power-efficient, it won't really strain a basic board. If I were making a decision today, I’d lean towards MSI for build quality. Check out this comparison sheet for more details: [Google Sheets Link].

Many suggest that the B850 boards are a sweet spot. They typically come with better audio and VRMs. The B850 Tomahawk Max is priced around $190, and the B850 Steel Legend is around $170, which offers similar premium features, even though it’s faced some controversy recently.

I went with the MSI PRO B650-P WIFI for my build, and it’s been working perfectly fine for me.

If you're into tweaking RAM and CPU clock speeds, you'd want a higher-end motherboard. However, if your main goal is gaming without worrying about all the specs, a B650 board like the ASUS B650e-e TUF is a solid choice. I got mine for about $160 and allocated the rest of my budget for a GPU instead.
