I'm trying to improve my gaming experience on an older PC. Recently, my HDD failed, so I upgraded from a 500 GB SSD to a 2 TB SSD (Samsung 990, SATA, since my motherboard doesn't support NVME). I've been playing Elden Ring, but I'm having trouble with low FPS, which I suspect is due to bottlenecking from my CPU and RAM. Here are my current specs: GPU: Nvidia RTX 2060, CPU: Intel i7 7700, RAM: 16 GB DDR3, and the new 2 TB SSD. I'm considering upgrading my CPU, RAM, and motherboard. Should I return the SSD and get an NVME-compatible one later, or would an adapter be better? Also, any recommendations for a CPU, RAM, and motherboard combo that's budget-friendly (around $250-$300) would be greatly appreciated!

Make sure your Nvidia drivers are updated first! You can do this easily through the GeForce Experience app. Also, check your graphics settings; turning off performance-hitting settings can really help. Let me know if these tips don't solve your issues!

Everything's updated and those settings are off, but it's still super slow. It runs, just not smoothly.
