I'm building a PC primarily for VR gaming and development, using a Quest 3 with Virtual Desktop and sometimes Steam Link over a dedicated WiFi connection. My budget is around $1,700. Here's the setup I'm considering:

- **Operating System:** Windows 11 Pro
- **Motherboard:** ASRock X870 Pro RS WiFi ATX AM5 Motherboard
- Supports PCIe Gen5, Dual Channel DDR5, USB4 Type-C
- Max RAM Capacity: 256 GB
- **Processor:** AMD Ryzen 7 8700G 4.2 GHz 8-Core
- **Memory:** Kingston FURY Beast 64 GB (4 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000
- **Graphics Card:** Asus PRIME GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB
- **Storage:** Western Digital WD_BLACK SN7100 2 TB NVME SSD
- **Power Supply:** MSI MAG A1250GL 1250W 80 PLUS Gold

As for software, I primarily use Unity, Godot, Blender, KdenLive for video editing, and OBS for recording and streaming. I'm wondering if my CPU might be underwhelming, and I'd love to hear any suggestions or additions you might have. Thanks!

You might want to make some swaps:

1. Upgrade the CPU to a 7800X3D for better gaming performance at a similar price point.
2. You don't need an ultra-high-end motherboard; a decent B650M will do just fine.
3. A 1250W PSU is overkill unless you're planning a future upgrade to high-end graphics cards. A good 750W or 850W PSU would suffice.
4. A dual stick RAM setup will improve things as well.
5. You might find great deals on higher-tier GPUs if you shop around.

I see a few things that could definitely be improved here:

1. The 8700G isn't the best choice; it has less cache and fewer PCIe lanes than newer options.
2. ASRock motherboards have had issues with AM5 CPUs — might want to look at other brands.
3. Opting for four sticks of RAM could limit your speed; consider using two 32GB sticks instead to get better performance.

What CPU would you recommend instead? I'm considering changing from Intel to AMD.

Switching to two 32GB sticks is definitely the way to go for better performance!
