Is this gaming PC build solid enough for competitive gaming?

I'm about to inherit my friend's old PC as he's upgrading, and I'm curious about how good this build really is. I've never owned a gaming PC before, and my friend insists that his current setup outperforms my Xbox Series X. I've been using a Steam Deck for the past three years, but it doesn't cut it for competitive gaming. The PC I'm getting has an NVIDIA RTX 3080 TI graphics card, an Intel i9-10900k processor, an Asus Prime B560m-a motherboard, and 32 gigs of DDR4 RAM. I also have a 1440p, 144Hz monitor that I've been using with my Xbox. Will this setup allow me to fully utilize my display, and how do you think it will hold up for modern games? Will I need to make any upgrades right away?

This build is solid! The GPU is a powerhouse; you might not hit 144 FPS in every game but it should handle most titles really well, especially if you're willing to adjust some settings down. You're good to go for a while!

You're getting a high-end system from 2021! With that CPU, it should run most modern games at 1440p with decent settings, likely hitting around 100 FPS at high settings. Just keep in mind that the CPU can run a bit hot, but if your friend has a good cooling system in place, you should be set!

He mentioned getting a high-end Ryzen 9 for his new one, right? Sounds like he’s serious about performance!
