I've been dealing with an annoying issue on my new laptop. Every time I manage to uninstall Yahoo McAfee search and switch my default search back to Google on Chrome, it somehow gets reinstalled after about a week. I even removed McAfee completely from my computer, but I keep getting these frustrating pop-ups. Does anyone know what might be causing this and how I can permanently get rid of it?

Make sure there are no rogue extensions in your browser that might be messing with your search settings. Go to the extensions manager in Chrome and remove anything suspicious. Also, run a Malwarebytes scan just to ensure there’s no search hijacking malware lurking around.
It sounds like your computer might be reinstalling it through some other software. Check if you're installing or updating any apps without going through those installer prompts carefully. Sometimes, developers sneak in unwanted software like that during installation. Just be mindful of what you're agreeing to when installing applications!
Check your Task Scheduler and Services for any processes that might be reinstalling it without your knowledge. Additionally, using a tool like Revo Uninstaller can help you remove it completely.
You might want to consider reinstalling Windows 11 from scratch. Many laptops come preloaded with unnecessary bloatware. If you back up your files and download the necessary drivers to a USB from the manufacturer's support site, it's pretty straightforward. If your computer starts acting up, a fresh OS install is often the best move unless there's a deeper issue like a root kit.

That could definitely be worth trying! A clean install can clear up a lot of issues.
