Is Pursuing a Career in Programming Realistic for Me?

I've hit a tough spot in my life and made some big changes. I left my engineering program during the quarantine and tried my hand at the family business, but it didn't go well. Now, going back to university feels out of reach for me due to time and resource constraints. However, I'm determined and believe I have a good understanding of math. I've started studying Python and, with help from some friends who tutor, I'm getting more into programming. I'm curious if it's realistic to find a job in tech with my current situation. I'm not looking to take shortcuts or just learn popular frameworks; I want to dive deep and am even working on small IT projects. I've also covered some basic C++ and plan to improve my skills in that, too. Do you think I have a future in this field or should I give up?

If you're ready to put in the effort, you can absolutely make it happen! It might take a bit longer than you hope, but as long as you stay focused and really commit to studying, you'll open up opportunities for yourself. Just keep grinding!

It sounds like you're on the right track! Have you done any research on job opportunities in your area? Python is definitely a solid choice as it's widely used and appreciated in the tech world. Just keep learning and working on projects, and don't rush it. The more effort you put in, the more likely you'll find a role that fits you.

I've heard that Python is a great entry point—what made you choose it over other languages?

I chose Python because it’s popular and versatile. Plus, friends who've been in the field recommended it as a good foundation.
