I'm in the midst of building my new PC and I've got three M.2 NVMe slots on my motherboard. I initially planned to buy one Gen 5 and one Gen 4 drive, leaving the Gen 3 slot empty. However, I found an old 1TB Gen 3 drive from about seven years ago that has a read/write speed of 3200 MB/s. I'm wondering how much that lower speed would impact gaming compared to the faster drives that typically reach around 7000 MB/s. I still plan to use the Gen 3 for gaming since I used to have no issues with hard drives before. Just curious about any potential differences!

You probably won't notice much difference between the Gen 3 and a faster drive if you’re just gaming and using the PC for general tasks. However, consider getting a Gen 5 SSD, especially since 1TB fills up quickly with modern games. Prices are rising, so it might be worth grabbing one soon. The Samsung 990 EVO Plus is a solid choice right now!

That's good to know! I have some other uses in mind for this computer, and having a Gen 4 or Gen 5 for those tasks sounds like a smart move, thanks for the suggestion!
