How to Activate Dell Windows 11 After a Regular Reinstallation?

I got a bunch of Dell PCs that came with Windows 11 licenses, but when I reinstalled them using standard Windows 11 Pro media, I ran into activation issues. Even though it seems like there's a product key assigned to the systems, I can't activate them. I've checked Dell's documentation and it suggests there might be a method to obtain a legitimate product key, but I've had no luck with their tech support. Is there a way to get these machines activated, or should I just return them? I'm not interested in using Dell's custom Windows 11 version.

The activation problem could be because Dell's OEM keys for Windows 11 aren't identical to the regular Pro keys. Why not take a look at Dell's recovery tool? It'll let you create a bootable USB and reinstall the original Dell image, which should already be activated. Just curious, why did you decide to reinstall anyway?

If those PCs originally had Pro, they should have activated fine. Windows activation is tied to the motherboard ID. If you want to take a budget-friendly route, consider reverting to Windows Home and then upgrade to Pro via the store or with a physical key from Best Buy.

Did they come with Dell Windows 11 Pro licenses? It seems like you might have mixed up editions, as I've successfully re-imaged Dell PCs running Windows 11 Pro without issues.

Yes, they’re indeed Dell Pro Tower business PCs. Do you use Dell's custom OEM images when you re-image? Because according to their support, my approach shouldn't work.
