Best Linux Distro for an Old Touchscreen Laptop

I'm trying to breathe new life into an old Asus T100 convertible laptop with the following specs: Intel Atom Z3775 processor running at 1.46 GHz, 2GB of RAM, a Micro-SD port, and possibly a Micro-USB port (though it only seems to power the device). There's no functional keyboard, though there's an attachable one that connects via USB, but it has issues like a stuck shift key. The laptop has Bluetooth and WiFi.

What I'm looking for is an operating system that is completely usable via touchscreen, supports Bluetooth and WiFi, allows me to run Xterm and Git, and lets me test some of my code. Ideally, I would like to use a decent IDE and a web browser. One important thing: I'd love to try out a live version from a micro-SD card before fully switching away from Windows 8.1, but I'm worried about the limited RAM affecting performance. What Linux distribution would you recommend?

You might want to check out lightweight distributions like **Lubuntu** or **Xubuntu**. They have good touchscreen support and can run fairly well on low-spec machines like yours. **Linux Mint XFCE** is another solid option that’s known for user-friendliness and performance on older hardware. Just make sure to test them out in live mode from your micro-SD card before committing!

I'd suggest **Peppermint OS** as it's designed to be lightweight and is pretty touchscreen-friendly. It can work well with Bluetooth and WiFi. Plus, it's got a simple interface that should let you run Xterm and pretty much any IDE you want. Just remember to check the RAM usage when you're testing it out!
