Hey everyone! I recently bought a vertical GPU mount for my setup, which includes a PCIe 4.0 riser cable. My graphics card is a 5070 Ti that supports PCIe 5.0. I'm wondering if there are any downsides to using a PCIe 5.0 GPU with a 4.0 riser. Should I invest in a PCIe 5.0 riser since they cost twice as much? Also, if I decide to stick with the 4.0 cable, will I need to adjust anything in the BIOS to prevent issues like boot loops, crashes, or signal instability? I appreciate any insights you can share!

You should be fine using a PCIe 4.0 riser with a 5070 Ti. Just make sure to set the PCIe link speed to 4.0 in your BIOS. You might lose about 1% of performance, but that's pretty negligible!

Is that setting for the riser change made before or after installing the vertical GPU?
