I'm considering purchasing a used Ryzen 7 9800X3D from a local shop for $375, but it's being sold 'As-Is' and has not been tested. The CPU shows significant wear on the top with some scuffs, though the contacts generally look good, except for one area that worries me. Do you think this damage could stop the CPU from posting? I'd really appreciate your thoughts!

I bought an open box 9800X3D before and it worked perfectly! You might be okay if the price is right. Just make sure to check the contacts and ask about its history.
Personally, I'd steer clear of buying a used CPU, especially something like the 9800X3D which you'd want to last a while. I know I might be in the minority, but I'd rather spend a bit more for peace of mind.
That's a fair point, and this CPU isn't super rare, so I guess I could hold out for a new one. Thanks for sharing!

How did it look? Like, how much wear did it have?
