Hey everyone, I'm really in a bind here and need your help. I recently did a reset on my Acer Nitro 5 laptop, intending to keep my files. The reset went through the initial stages but got stuck at 1% during installation, and the screen is completely frozen.
The reason I attempted a reset is due to ongoing issues with my NVIDIA drivers, which have caused my system to behave erratically. After updating my GPU drivers recently, I faced a persistent "unsupported graphics card" error that led to a looping BSOD sequence. I managed to boot into safe mode and remove the NVIDIA drivers, but every driver installation attempt resulted in BSODs.
Thinking the problem could be deeper within Windows, I initiated a repair reinstall, but now I'm trapped at this 1% installation screen and I'm panicking! I need to know if it's okay to shut down the laptop at this point without losing all my data, which I need for my design projects. I don't have an external drive for backup right now, and there's important work on my computer that isn't saved anywhere else.
I'd really appreciate any insights or advice on how best to proceed without risking my files!

If you can get into the Windows recovery options, that might give you some choices. You could try troubleshooting from there and see if it lets you boot normally or access your files. But yeah, don’t worry too much about turning it off if it’s frozen that long!
It sounds like you’re in a precarious situation! If your installation is frozen at 1% for an extended period, it’s generally safe to power down your laptop. Just be aware there's always a risk, but if you've done a lot of troubleshooting, it might be your best option. After shutdown, try booting up and see if you can access your files before anything else. You could also consider using a live USB for Linux to backup files before trying any resets.
Yeah, I agree! Just make sure to back up any important files as soon as you can. Using a live USB is a smart move to safeguard that data. Good luck!
