I'm really kicking myself for not buying a RAM card earlier this year. Prices have shot up recently, and it seems like there's a prediction that the shortage may last 2 more years or more. I'm looking to get at least 64 GB, but I feel like I'm wasting my AMD 9950x3d on my old i7 6700k paired with an ASUS TUF 5090, which isn't giving me the performance I want. Should I just bite the bullet and get the RAM now?

You might consider starting with 64GB (2x32GB) for now if that's your ultimate goal. Buy a dual-channel setup now, and when prices drop, you can grab another set of the same. That's what I did, and I ended up saving a good amount once I got the second half later.
Honestly, if you’ve already invested in a $2000 5090 and a $700 CPU, spending an extra $100-200 on RAM isn’t going to break the bank. Just go for it!
Totally agree! Just get what you need now.
Honestly, it’s your call. I bit the bullet and bought a 5070ti for $1k instead of waiting, and I’m pretty happy with that decision because now I don’t have to fiddle with settings anymore!
I wouldn’t expect RAM prices to drop anytime soon. There’s some info out there suggesting that manufacturers aren’t ramping up production any time soon due to ongoing shortages.
If you're good with your 9950x3d and 5090, just hit buy on the RAM. You’ll be fine spending the extra cash at this point!

I get it, but I was also waiting for a good deal on RAM without the RGB nonsense. It's tough with prices soaring, especially because of AI demand.
