Hi folks! I'm putting the final touches on my AM5 PC build and need some help deciding between the MSI B850 Tomahawk and the Gigabyte B850 Aorus motherboards. Both are priced similarly in my area, so I want to pick the better option. My build setup includes a Ryzen 9 9800X3D CPU, an RTX 5070 Ti GPU, and 32GB of DDR5 RAM running at 6000MHz CL30. I'm mainly focused on stability, good VRMs, a decent BIOS, and overall reliability. If you have experience with either motherboard, I'd love to hear your thoughts on which one you'd recommend and why. Thanks!

I have a B850 Aorus Elite WiFi 7 with the 9800X3D, 64GB RAM at 6000MHz, and I've been really happy with its performance. It was meant for gaming, but I mostly use it for work, and it's been rock solid since day one.

Ultimately, just go for the one that has the ports you need. Both motherboards are solid!

Just a heads up, the MSI board has a bug where the LAN port can disappear if you unplug it while the PC is turned on. It’s fixable, but it can catch you off guard the first time it happens, as you'll need to completely power down to fix it.

Wait, does this happen every time you unplug it?

I've been using the MSI MAG Tomahawk B850 with an RTX 5080 and 32GB DDR5 6000 CL30, and it's been great for me. No issues at all!

Thanks for sharing! Just out of curiosity, what exact RAM are you using?

I just got my hands on the same board. Was the BIOS and driver setup difficult? This is my first build, and I'm a bit nervous!

If you're considering overclocking, the ComboStrike feature from previous series was super useful. I had a B550 Tomahawk with a 5800X3D and the VRM section was top-notch, barely hitting 40°C under stress. But keep in mind, there’s no ComboStrike support for AM5.
