Should I Be Concerned About Software on My Laptop After a Repair?

I recently took my laptop to a repair shop because my charger was acting up. They asked for my laptop and charger, and told me to come back in two hours. They also requested my password, but I didn't want to give it to them. When I got my laptop back, I noticed that OBS 64 software was in my downloads folder. To be honest, I might have had it there before, but I find it strange that it appeared in the recently downloaded files. I deleted it right away. Does this mean I should be worried about what they did while my laptop was in their hands?

You can check the date on the file to see when it was downloaded. If it was recent, that might raise some eyebrows, but if not, it’s likely you had it already. Repair shops typically don’t mess with your personal files unless they have a good reason to—like troubleshooting a specific issue. Just be cautious and maybe check your laptop for any other unexpected changes.

I totally get why you’d feel uneasy, but don’t stress too much. It’s pretty common for repair shops to be careful about user privacy. Plus, installing something without access to your password seems unlikely. However, it’s good to keep an eye on your device to ensure everything looks normal.

Thanks for the reassurance! I'm definitely going to keep an eye on things.
