Hey everyone! I'm looking to upgrade my PC by adding a second SSD. I've got a GIGABYTE B760M DS3H DDR4 motherboard and would like to install a Kingston NV3 1TB SSD in the empty slot. I'm not sure if I should get a heatsink because my motherboard doesn't seem to have one, and the SSD doesn't come with one either. Is a heatsink necessary for this SSD, or can I use it without one? Keep in mind, it's going to be my second SSD, not the main one. Thanks for your help!

I don’t think it’s absolutely necessary, but I would definitely recommend getting a heatsink. They’re inexpensive and won’t hurt performance, plus they help maintain cooler temperatures.
It really depends on what you're using it for. If you're mostly gaming, you'll be fine, but if you access a lot of data at once (like during downloads or updates), then the SSD might heat up.
The drive typically won’t get too hot unless you’re really stressing it out. If you're worried though, picking up a third-party heatsink like the Arctic M2 Pro is cheap and effective!

Yeah, I get that! More games mean more downloads. Just keep an eye on temps during heavy use.
