I'm new to building PCs and I'm finally ready to take the plunge! Here's my current parts list: [https://pcpartpicker.com/list/9nhBMC](https://pcpartpicker.com/list/9nhBMC). I started with a case that supports an optical drive since I'm a bit of a physical media fan and got my motherboard because there's a combo deal at Microcenter with my chosen CPU. However, I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed and not sure if my build is any good. I prefer not to change my CPU, case, or monitor since I'm confident they meet my needs. As long as everything fits and the system powers on, I think I can handle the rest.

What's the main goal for your PC? Also, have you considered using a USB drive instead of an optical drive?
It looks like your selected memory isn't available, and remember, using two sticks is always better for performance with dual-channel. Also, consider better airflow for your case; it would help to add larger fans for efficiency and quieter performance. As for the PSU, a range between 350 to 450 watts is ideal, but quality matters. One suggestion could be the Gold-rated Silverstone Essential 550W. Here’s a sample list you could consider:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7700X ($254.99)
Motherboard: Gigabyte B650 GAMING X AX V2 ($184.99)
Memory: TEAMGROUP T-Force Delta RGB 16GB (2x8GB) ($97.99)
Storage: SK Hynix Platinum P41 1TB SSD ($74.99)
GPU: MSI VENTUS 2X OC GeForce RTX 3050 ($179.99)
Case: Thermaltake V100 ($49.99)
Supply: MSI MAG A650BE 650W ($64.98)
Total: $1254.84
Thanks for the feedback! I'm really new to all this and can see your suggestions improve my choices. I’ll definitely check the memory and power supply options you recommended.

The optical drive is just part of my media collection upgrade. I currently have a portable disc drive, and I want to step it up a bit. This PC will be mainly for writing and coding, but I might also game a bit, probably not anything too demanding; maybe just modded Minecraft on lower graphics settings.
