Hey everyone! I've been trying out LMDE for a while and PewDiePie's video inspired me to dive into Arch Linux. I've got an old laptop that I'm ready to transform, as I don't need Windows on it anymore. I'm looking for guidance on how to completely install Arch and set it up similarly to PewDiePie's workspace, especially regarding the desktop and terminal configuration, though I'm not too worried about the aesthetics. Is there a master guide or some specific resources that can help?

I've never tried Hyperland but it looks interesting! If you're new to Arch, consider using the archinstall script; it's pretty user-friendly and should have options for installing Hyperland as a DE. Just keep in mind that some people prefer to install it manually for a bit more hands-on experience.
Start by checking out the Arch Wiki to get Arch Linux installed. There are tons of YouTube videos that walk you through setting up Hyprland and Waybar since those are popular choices for window management. You’ll find a lot of helpful resources there!
There are loads of YouTube tutorials on tiling window managers and customizing your setup, often referred to as 'ricing'. Find a configuration you like, and then tweak it to make it your own—it's a fun way to learn!
Once you start installing Arch, check out r/unixporn for tons of customization ideas to really make your setup unique. If you’re looking for specific Hyprland resources, just search for 'Hyprland' in that sub—lots of great posts there!
To get started with Arch, first read the installation guide, then check out the installation info for Hyprland. You might find that he uses Waybar like most setups, so look into that too. Remember, it might seem difficult at first but don't rush—understanding the commands and the installation process will pay off!
I'd recommend sticking to official repositories for your packages and being cautious with the AUR. It can be tempting to grab everything from there, but keeping it straightforward is usually safer.
Make sure you install Arch, then set up Hyprland, Waybar, and Eww. It's worth noting that he's using Zsh instead of Bash, so keep that in mind when you're configuring your terminal!
PewDiePie may say he’s not technical, but his setup can be complex. You’ll want to dive into a lot of tutorials to grasp how to replicate it effectively!
I haven't seen PewDiePie's video, so I can't comment on his setup. But a good place to start is always the Arch Wiki! It has all the info you need for a solid install.
I agree! While archinstall can be helpful, I think you'll gain more understanding by manually installing. Learning how everything works from the ground up is super valuable!
