Should I Disable ReBar for Gaming?

I've been advised to turn off ReBar in my BIOS to help with micro stutters while playing Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. I'm curious about any potential downsides to doing this. Is it straightforward and safe to re-enable ReBar afterward? My plan is to only disable it while playing Rebirth and switch it back on after. Additionally, can frequently toggling this setting affect my GPU, AMD, or system settings in any way? I have an RTX 5070 Ti and a Ryzen 9 9900x.

No worries! You can just change the BIOS setting without risking any damage to your hardware. It's pretty straightforward—just reboot your system, make the change, and you’re good to go. Some games perform better with ReBar off, while others don't, so it can vary by game. Just remember you'll have to restart to switch settings.

You shouldn't run into any issues by switching ReBar on and off as you like; it shouldn't break anything. If ReBar is functioning properly, you might experience worse performance without it, so it’s worth a test to see whether it helps or not.

If you're using an Nvidia card, you can actually manage ReBar directly through the Nvidia Profile Inspector without needing to adjust BIOS settings. This way, you can keep it enabled in the BIOS but control it right from the Nvidia software.

Whether or not you should disable ReBar really depends on your specific video card and the game you’re playing. Certain graphics cards, especially from Intel, can really struggle without it, leading to major performance issues. However, with your RTX 5070 Ti, you should be fine toggling it on and off. If you don't see any performance improvements after disabling it, you can easily turn it back on without any hassle.
