I'm wondering if a 1Gbps LAN port on my motherboard is sufficient for gaming, coding, and everyday tasks. I don't plan to be transferring large files, like 1TB, but I'm curious if spending extra on a 2.5Gbps port makes sense for my needs. What do you think?

What type of internet do you have? If it’s consistently over 1Gbps and you’re expecting improvements in your area, then consider going for the 2.5Gbps for future-proofing. But if it’s just for connecting to the internet without local file transfers, 1Gbps is more than enough for regular browsing and university work.
Do you even have an internet plan that goes beyond 1Gbps? If you do, then it might be worth the extra money, but if not, you're just not using your bandwidth to the fullest. Also, keep in mind that coding doesn't require speed since you're not downloading anything heavy, but if you're downloading games, you might notice a difference. Playing online games? That doesn’t require a super-fast connection!
Not right now, but I'm thinking of upgrading my internet later this year, so I wanted to know if it’s worth the investment.
A 1Gbps connection is definitely more than enough for everyday activities. Unless you have a network set up at home that supports higher speeds, like a 2.5Gbps infrastructure, that upgrade isn't going to do much for you.
If your internet speed is over a gigabit, then go for it! But if not, there's really no need to pay extra. Just stick with the 1Gbps for now.
Unless you're transferring data between several devices like computers or a NAS, 1Gbps should be just fine. If you're mainly browsing and doing schoolwork, you won't even notice the difference.
I might upgrade in the future, but for now, my general usage won't require those extra speeds.
