I'm currently using an Intel setup with a 12900K, 32GB of DDR4 RAM, a 4090 GPU, two 2TB SSDs, one 4TB HDD, and a 1000W power supply. I'm considering switching to an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, which means I'll need a new motherboard and I just realized I'll also have to buy DDR5 RAM. That's gonna add around $200 to my costs. I want to know how complicated the switch is and if I can keep all my existing components. Is it actually worth the upgrade? Microcenter has the CPU and motherboard bundle for $530. Any advice?

You'll definitely need a clean Windows install when you change the motherboard and CPU. I recommend backing up important files first, like browser favorites. The process involves disassembling your rig and following some specific steps—taking your time will help avoid mistakes!
You're also going to need new RAM for this switch! All AM5 motherboards only support DDR5. So, if you budget about $200 for that, along with the motherboard and CPU, you're looking at a hefty upgrade. At least your other components like the GPU and storage will still be usable!
As for software, Windows should mostly handle the transition without issues. You might need to remove some Intel-specific drivers and install the ones for AMD, but as long as you have your important data backed up, you should be fine.

Can you explain more about that backup process? How to ensure I keep everything I need?
