Why Am I Getting Low FPS with My Budget Gaming Build?

I put together a budget gaming setup with an Intel i3-10100F CPU, a GTX 3060 with 12GB VRAM, and 16GB of RAM. Despite this, I'm struggling to hit 120 FPS in Fortnite on low settings and can barely reach 144 FPS in Valorant or 120 FPS in CS2. Any ideas on what might be causing these issues?

It looks like your CPU is the bottleneck here. The i3-10100F is a bit dated with just 4 cores, which can limit performance in many games, especially if they rely on more processing power.

Yeah, I've heard that older CPUs like that can struggle. Have you checked the RAM speed? If it's slow or single channel, that could really hold you back.

Honestly, using a 10th-gen i3 for gaming might not be the best choice. For high-performance games like Valorant, you'd want something stronger like an i5 or an AMD Ryzen 5.

Exactly! The official specs recommend at least an i5-9400F for 144+ FPS in Valorant, so upgrading your CPU could make a big difference.

Don't forget to check your temperatures as well. If your CPU is overheating, it could throttle performance down. Keeping everything cool can help maintain better FPS.

Have you considered that if changing the graphics settings doesn't affect your FPS, it's probably the CPU that's holding you back? You might need to upgrade to something like the i5-10400F to see better performance.
