How can I fix a broken power button on my computer?

I've got a broken power button that's connected directly to my motherboard, not just the one on my case. It was originally attached using four pins, but three of those are now loose, so it won't work anymore. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a way to fix the pins, or do I need to get a new case? Could I just buy a replacement button instead?

You might want to upload some pictures online to share, as it would really help others understand your situation better. Try using a site like Imgur to share the link.

It sounds like your power button typically only connects with two wires instead of four. Definitely, pictures could clarify things. If the solder connections are loose, you might need to resolder them. But if they broke off completely, you'll have to replace the switch altogether. The four pins could mean some are for a power LED that doesn't connect electrically, just there for support.

Yeah, usually, it's just two wires for the switch. If you're in a bind, you could also use a random momentary switch connected to the two power pins—it’ll work just like the original.
