How Can I Get 1440p Resolution on My Samsung 34-Inch Ultrawide Monitor?

I recently got a Samsung 34-inch ultrawide curved monitor (model LC34G55TWW) primarily for office use and some light gaming. However, when I connect it to my Dell Inspiron 15 3530 laptop using an HDMI 1.4 cable, the highest resolution I can achieve is 1920x1080 at 60Hz. The 1080p resolution looks stretched and the pixels appear blurry. Does anyone know how I can get the full 3440x1440 resolution?

Do you have access to the Intel GPU control panel? You might be able to set a custom resolution there. I faced a similar issue, but I managed to get 3440x1440 at 45Hz which was enough for me.

Have you checked the monitor's manual? It turns out the HDMI port on your laptop only supports up to 1080p at 60Hz, so that's likely why you're stuck there. Unfortunately, that means there's no way to get the higher resolution through that connection.

That really sucks. Looks like you're out of options with that setup.

You might need a different connection type or adapter.

Your laptop’s integrated GPU might not support high resolutions when connected to multiple monitors. If that’s the case, it limits your options for achieving higher resolutions.

Would a docking station or multiport adapter help with this?

You could try changing the settings in Windows, but if you're not seeing the resolution option, then it's probably limited by your laptop's capabilities.

Yeah, I checked and 1080p is the max that's showing up.

Also, what kind of cable are you using? That can make a difference too.
