My RTX 5070 Is Underperforming – Any Suggestions?

I'm experiencing significant underperformance with my RTX 5070 GPU. I'm running it alongside an i5 14600k processor and 16GB of 2666MHz RAM (which is just a placeholder, as I'm currently waiting for my 32GB of 3600MHz RAM). For example, in Hogwarts Legacy at 1080p with Ultra settings and high ray tracing (no DLSS), my GPU is only pulling about 150W max. In other games like Wuthering Waves, the GPU utilization doesn't exceed 30-40%, which causes stuttering, even though my friends can run the same settings on worse hardware. The drivers are up to date, and I'm unsure of what else to check. In Zenless Zone Zero, which isn't very demanding, the GPU utilization also hovers around 30%, and I'm only getting about 80 FPS in larger city areas, which is only a slight increase compared to my previous RX 5700XT. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

It sounds like your GPU might be bottlenecked by your CPU. The i5 14600k is a solid chip, but under certain conditions, it might not keep up with the 5070, especially at lower resolutions like 1080p. You might see better performance if you try gaming at 1440p, which could push the GPU to work harder and make better use of its capabilities.

Yeah, I was thinking the same! Sometimes, it's not just about the GPU but how the CPU is handling the games too. Just bumping up the resolution can often help utilize your hardware better.
