Does My GPU Have Corrosion or Is It Just Dust?

Hey everyone! I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to GPUs, and I live in a humid area. I noticed something above the RTX logo on the metal part of my GPU, and I can't tell if it's corrosion or just my imagination. I'd appreciate your thoughts on this! English isn't my first language, so please bear with me. Here are the pictures: https://imgur.com/a/Vset5ui

From what I can tell, that's probably just dust. If you tried brushing it off and some remains, that might be due to heat making it stick a bit more than usual. So, no need to panic!

It could be oxides or residue from the solder used when they attached the heat pipes. In my experience, that kind of thing doesn’t come off easily with water, so you might need something stronger if it bothers you. But it’s not necessarily a bad sign.

Are you saying it's oxidation? Is that normal?

What you're seeing is likely just dust accumulation. Aluminum, which is what the heat sink is made of, doesn't really rust. It forms a protective layer on its own, so don’t worry too much about corrosion. A good cleaning might help!

I don't think it looks like corrosion. It seems more like dust to me. Those metal parts are usually pretty resistant to rust, and they often develop a surface layer that prevents that. Try cleaning it up a bit and see if it looks better!
