Hey everyone! I'm looking to upgrade my PC setup and would love some input. Currently, I have an Intel Core i5-4670K CPU, an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 GPU, and 16 GB of RAM running on Windows. I'm thinking of upgrading to an AMD Ryzen 5 5500 CPU, which is 6 cores and 12 threads with a base speed of 3.5 GHz, and a motherboard that supports it, along with new 16 GB RAM from Kingston. My main question is whether my GTX 1070 will still perform well with these new upgrades, especially since I play games like Oblivion (2025) and don't plan on upgrading my GPU for now. Any advice or thoughts are greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I think your GTX 1070 might struggle a bit with newer titles, especially since NVIDIA is phasing out driver support for the 10 series soon. If you're aiming for smooth gameplay, you might want to consider upgrading to a GPU like the 3060, which could be a good fit for your build.
With your current setup, you can expect decent performance on Skyrim, probably around 60fps, but with Oblivion, you might have to lower the resolution and settings. For optimal results, consider that they recommend at least a 1070 Ti GPU.
What if I decided to overclock the new CPU? Would that help improve performance significantly?
Have you thought about going with an AM5 socket CPU? Options like the Ryzen 7500F or 7600 could give you a performance edge. Just a heads up though, these can significantly raise the cost of your build since you'll likely need a new motherboard and possibly RAM too.
Yeah, but investing in AM5 is a bigger upfront cost. You could end up with a fantastic rig over time, but that's not the easiest route if you're starting with a tighter budget.
Would it still manage around 60fps on the games I play? Thinking I could upgrade my GPU later, but would it really hold up until then?
