I'm in a bit of a bind here. While trying to light an incense match, one of the embers accidentally landed on my laptop screen, and now there's a small white dot in the center. It's definitely not a stuck pixel, but rather a missing layer of the screen itself. This is on my ASUS ROG Strix G16, and the laptop is pretty new. Is there any fix for this, or am I looking at a complete screen replacement?

Unfortunately, it sounds like you need a whole new screen. Once an LCD panel is damaged like that, it can't be fixed—replacing the entire thing is usually the only option. Even if it was just some melted plastic, you still can't buy or remove just that layer, so you'll have to go for a full replacement.
You could get a pair of polarized sunglasses and try this quirky fix: take out one of the lenses and hold it up to the spot. Twist the lens until it changes the appearance of the white spot, then you could try to cut and glue it onto the screen. It's definitely a creative approach, if a bit chaotic!

Chaotic ideas are sometimes the best! Thanks for the tip!
