I'm really struggling with a situation on my Windows 11 device. I keep getting a message that says, "the sign in option is disabled because of failed sign in attempts or repeated shutdown. Keep your device powered on for at least two hours and then try again." The problem is, I don't know my password; I only have my PIN. When I tried to reset the PIN, it told me that no drive is available and that I need removal media for this feature. I've waited the required two hours, kept my laptop lid open to prevent it from going into hibernation, and nothing is working. I'm desperate and really want to avoid resetting the laptop or flashing the system. Any tips? Also, does closing the laptop lid affect that two-hour countdown?

It sounds like a bit of a mess! If you're completely locked out and don't know the password, you may want to check whether BitLocker is enabled. If it’s not, you might be able to do a password reset using some tools, but that can be a long shot. There's a method where you can replace utilman.exe with cmd.exe to address password issues, but it's a little technical.

BitLocker is enabled? That complicates things! You might need to have access to the recovery key. If you don’t have a Microsoft account linked, that can be tricky. I’d suggest looking into any notes you made when you set it up, or any linked emails that might have the recovery key.
