Hey everyone, I recently built a PC using some second-hand parts, and I'm running into a problem. Whenever I start a game, even one as light as GTA San Andreas (without any mods), the game crashes during cutscenes, and my whole PC restarts. I haven't tested other games yet since I'm waiting for new RAM and storage to arrive.
Here are my specs: Ryzen 7 2700x with Wraith Prism cooler, Gigabyte B450M DS3H motherboard, currently 12GB of 2400MHz RAM (waiting on 16GB of 3200MHz), RX 5700xt Gigabyte Gaming OC GPU, and a Samsung 970 Evo Plus 256GB.
I'm wondering if there could be an underlying issue. Should I be looking to install more drivers? I've already put in the latest graphics driver and updated the BIOS, but something feels off. Any advice?

It sounds like there are a few things to consider here. Generally, you can expect a PC to be reliable for about 7-10 years before you start running into issues. Considering your parts are a bit older, they may not be as reliable as you hope.
The CPU does support DDR4-2933, but pushing it to 3200MHz might not be stable. If you're having crashes, you could try manually adjusting your RAM speed down to 3000CL15, 2933CL15, or even 2800CL14 to see if that helps. With parts this age, a lot can go wrong, so it's worth a shot. I personally use a newer AM4 setup but if I were building a budget rig today, I'd lean towards Intel LGA1700 because AM4 is starting to show its age.
Absolutely, 16GB is becoming the standard for gaming these days. With just 12GB, you might be pushing the limits, especially with newer titles. Getting that extra RAM might just solve your issues.

Yeah, I just hit a message saying 'Low available system memory detected' when trying to run CS2. Could the crashes be related to my 12GB of RAM? I feel like 16GB is really the minimum these days.
