What should I do if my charger isn’t working after tripping on it?

I was charging my ROG laptop and accidentally tripped on the charger, which was in the way. Now, the charger doesn't seem to be working anymore. The part I tripped on is the thin section of the charger. I did replace the part that connects to the outlet a few weeks ago because it was broken. Any advice on what I should check or do next?

Start by making sure the charger is outputting enough power. Also, take a close look at the laptop's charging port—it could be broken or loose, which would require repair.

From my experience with repairs, if the charge port takes a hard hit, it can break the connection to the motherboard. Sometimes you can replace the port, but other times it’s about re-soldering connections. If you feel up to it, opening the laptop might reveal the issue.

First off, I’d suggest checking if there’s any power flowing from the charger. If you have a multimeter, test the barrel connector to see if it’s getting any voltage. If you don’t own a multimeter, you might need to consider getting a new charger, or just buy one to troubleshoot, and return it if it doesn’t solve the issue. There's a good chance the barrel connector on the laptop itself could be damaged too, which might require disassembling it to inspect further.

Definitely check the charging port on the laptop itself. When I tripped on mine, the center of the port broke. If you can take a picture of it, that’d help diagnose the issue better.
