I've been experiencing unexpected shutdowns of my PC when I play games. Here are my specs: MSI B450M PRO-VDH MAX, Ryzen 5 5500, XFX RX 6600XT, Corsair CX650M power supply, and 16GB of RAM. The shutdowns started after I returned from a two-week trip. Before that, everything was running smoothly for about a year. Currently, I have to lower the resolutions of my games and play in windowed mode to avoid issues. I've tried several troubleshooting steps: reseating the GPU, swapping RAM, changing the GPU PCIe port, and updating BIOS and GPU drivers. Despite these efforts, the crashes persist. I've checked the event viewer, and the only log I found was system log 6008, indicating an unexpected shutdown. There's no minidump file generated, which is odd since I ensured the settings were configured for it. I suspect it might be the power supply, but I've read that usually indicates kernel event 41 errors, which I don't have. Since getting a new PSU would take time, I want to be certain before making that decision.

Have you checked your temperatures? Overheating is a common culprit for sudden shutdowns. Your post mentions crashes, but if your PC is shutting down completely, it's technically not a crash. If your temps are good, you should then investigate your power delivery chain, beginning from the wall socket, the cables, all the way to the PSU, motherboard, GPU, and CPU. Diagnosing the issue is tricky without swapping in known good components to isolate the fault.

Yeah, the temperatures are fine. My CPU never goes above 50°C, and the GPU stays below 70°C. I'm using a UPS connected to a wall socket, so I don’t think power delivery from the wall is causing the issues.
