Which Should I Upgrade First: CPU or GPU?

I'm currently using a Ryzen 5 5600 processor (non-x) and an RX 6650 XT graphics card. I'm wondering whether I should upgrade my CPU or GPU first. I've got a budget of $300 or less and I'm fine with buying parts from places like Facebook or eBay. I play on a 1440p, 144hz monitor, focusing mainly on Fortnite, indie games, and recently, Arc Raiders. Right now, I'm leaning towards upgrading the GPU, but I'd love to hear what others think!

I just did a similar upgrade and went for the motherboard, memory, and CPU. I had an RTX 4080 from last year, so I'm set on my graphics front. But if you're tight on budget and primarily playing games like you mentioned, GPU makes more sense right now.

Definitely prioritize the GPU! If you're able to find a used 3080 for around $260, that'd be a fantastic upgrade. Your 1440p resolution will benefit more from a better graphics card rather than a CPU upgrade at this point.

It really depends on the games you enjoy and your resolution. If you're playing at 1440p, I'd say focusing on the GPU first is the way to go. You'll see a significant boost in performance, especially in more demanding games like Fortnite and Arc Raiders.
