I'm planning to build a PC soon, but I can't actually get started until October. I have a decent budget and I want a machine that can handle everything—gaming, editing, and streaming. Should I go for a used 4090 or a new 5080? What's the better choice?

If budget isn't an issue for you, I'd recommend considering a 5090 if you can find one. But if you have to choose, I'd pick the 5080 based on your needs.
The 5080 might not perform quite as well as the 4090, but it's actually cheaper. If you're looking to save some cash, it could be a better option.
Typically, new technology is better, but it really depends. I'm still using my old 1080ti, and I can play most games at 1440p without a hitch!
Keep in mind that by the time October rolls around, the market landscape could change a lot. What seems like a good choice now might not be relevant later.
Just make sure to get whatever you can find close to the MSRP. Prices can be all over the place right now!
True, you don't always need the latest model if your current setup works well.
