I've been struggling with extremely slow download speeds on my PC, which is connected through Ethernet. Despite trying various solutions like switching to Google's IPv4, updating drivers, and restarting my system, the speed issues persist. My Ethernet cable is in good condition, and I have a gigabit SSD. Just now, while typing this, my download speed for Fortnite spiked to 150 Mbps but then plummeted back to zero when I stopped typing. It seems like typing somehow affects the download speed. The only thing that might contribute to the problem is that my modem is quite far from the main router. It feels really odd to experience such extreme drops. Why does my speed go to zero so often, even when I occasionally see it hit 50 Mbps?

It sounds like your setup could be a bit complicated. Can you explain how everything is connected? You mentioned that your PC is linked to what you're calling a modem, but it might actually be a router. Knowing how your devices are set up will help pinpoint the issue. Also, what internet speed plan do you have? Is your PC the only one that's experiencing slow speeds?

Yeah, it seems like there might be more at play here. If multiple devices are fine, it might just be your PC.
