I'm looking for keyboard shortcuts that include emoticons similar to the ones available on Windows. So far, I've only come across options for emoji shortcuts. Any suggestions on how to get emoticons instead?

You might want to look into using an Input Method Editor (IME). For example, we use fcitx5-mozc for Japanese, and while I'm not sure if they include emoticons, there’s a good chance they do since they’re quite popular in that context.
There are definitely options out there, but the best ones really depend on what desktop environment or window manager you’re using. If you let us know which one, I can give more targeted advice!
Which desktop environment are you running? Both KDE and GNOME generally have built-in options for this. If you're on KDE, for instance, it's as simple as using the Super+ key for shortcuts.
