Is a Career in Web Hosting and Design Still Viable?

I'm considering getting back into web design after taking a break for several years. I used to work with tables for layouts and learned some backend coding with MySQL and PHP. Over the years, I created and hosted several websites, but I stepped away from it all due to personal issues. Now, with so many people using popular platforms like Etsy or WordPress, I'm curious whether there's still a place for freelance web designers. What's the reality out there? If you freelance, who are your clients and do you make a decent living? If you work for a company, what type of company is it, what tools do you use, and are you satisfied with your income? I really appreciate any insights you can share!

I've been running a small web design agency since 2010, and let me tell you, there's no shortage of businesses out there with outdated websites that need help. Plus, I offer hosting and maintenance plans, which brings in good recurring revenue. So, there is definitely room for freelance work!

That's awesome! What's your secret sauce for running a successful agency? Do you work from an office or from home? How many people do you have on your team?
