Can I Build a Gaming PC for My Son Under $1000?

I'm looking to build a gaming PC for my son as a Christmas gift, and I haven't built one in about six years, so I'm a bit out of touch with the current components. I want to know if I can put together a decent rig for under $1000. Right now, I'm considering getting an RTX 5060 Ti as the graphics card, but I'm open to other suggestions if there's a better option. My son mainly plays Valorant and similar games, and I'd like this setup to last him 4-5 years without needing significant upgrades. I can stretch the budget a little if necessary.

Absolutely, you can build a decent gaming PC for under $1000! Check out Paul's Hardware on YouTube; he has solid videos on budget builds that you might find useful. Here's one that specifically covers $1000 builds: https://youtu.be/-1dtLswCms8?si=CSPQ5rJU0rfhyHSZ.

Just to clarify, when you say under $1000, does that include the monitor and peripherals, or just the PC itself? If it’s just for the PC, you can definitely build a good one!

It's just for the PC!
