Do I Need to Reformat My SSD if I Replace My Failing HDD?

Hi everyone! I have a question about replacing storage drives in my laptop. I have two drives: a Kingston SSD for my Windows installation (that's drive C) and a Toshiba HDD where I store all my other files (drives D, E, and F). Unfortunately, my Toshiba HDD is failing, and I'm planning to replace it. I'm confused though—do I need to reformat and reinstall Windows on my Kingston SSD when I do this, or can I just swap out the HDD? I'm hoping someone can clarify this for me. Thanks!

You don’t need to do anything with your C drive (the SSD). As long as your boot partition is safe on the SSD, replacing the failing HDD won’t affect how your laptop runs. Just make sure the EFI partition is on the SSD!

Got it! I was worried I might accidentally erase everything. Thanks a ton!
