A week ago, I connected my PS5 controller to the USB port on my PC, and because of the controller's built-in microphone, my PC automatically switched the audio input from my headset to the controller. While I can still hear audio through my headset, the microphone is no longer picking up my voice. Instead, it only transmits notification sounds from Windows and Discord. The headset microphone still works fine on my laptop. Now, the PS5 controller is my only functioning microphone. I've tried a bunch of troubleshooting steps, including unplugging/replugging everything, restarting my computer, and even reinstalling the audio drivers and doing a fresh install of Windows 11. What else can I do?

If those steps don’t work, it’s possible that there could be an issue with either the microphone itself or the audio port on your PC. Just because the headset works on another device doesn’t mean there's not a problem with your PC's setup.
Have you tried unplugging the PS5 controller and then reinstalling your audio drivers? Make sure to reboot your PC afterward and set your headset's microphone as the default device in the sound settings.
No luck with that. It all seemed to go haywire right after plugging in the controller.

That’s what I was thinking too, but it’s frustrating since it all seemed fine until the controller got involved!
