Should I choose an 850W or 1000W PSU for my PC build?

I'm currently building a PC with an RX 9070XT graphics card and a 7800x3d processor. I know that an 850W power supply unit (PSU) should be sufficient for my setup, but I'm wondering if it would be wiser to invest in a 1000W PSU for future upgrades. What are your thoughts? Also, could you recommend some good brands? I'm looking for an ATX 3.0 or 3.1 fully modular PSU.

I've been using an 850W PSU in my setup with a 9800x3d and 5080* and it’s been more than enough power. 850W should serve you well unless you're planning a major GPU upgrade soon.

If you go for a quality semi-modular or fully modular 850W Gold PSU, you'll have plenty of power for your current setup and a bit of extra headroom too.

850W is definitely enough unless you're eyeing some high-end GPUs in the future. Brands like Seasonic or Corsair (RMx or the more budget-friendly RMe) are always reliable options.

The Montech Century II 850W is a solid choice and usually offers great value for your money. I've heard lots of good things about it!

Totally agree! I picked one for my build too, and it's performing better than I expected. Definitely a good find!

Honestly, a quality 650W PSU can run your system just fine, so 850W gives you nice flexibility. Only consider upgrading to 1000W if you're possibly looking into an Nvidia 90 series GPU later on.
