Is It Possible to Install Linux on an HP Chromebook 14?

I'm considering installing Linux on my HP Chromebook 14 with an Intel N100 processor, but I've never done a clean install on any PC before. I'm not super tech-savvy, though I've built a few systems and installed software. I don't want to set up a dual boot. I would really appreciate any advice, instructions, or suggestions on which Linux distro would work best for my device. Thanks in advance!

Kubuntu works well? I tried Lubuntu on an Acer before, but it messed up my WiFi and I had power issues. New battery and cord didn’t fix it. But I recall it ran pretty well otherwise!

Check out the documentation on MrChromebox.tech; it's not too hard to install, but having a screwdriver handy might help. You can choose any distro you prefer, but I've heard that Kubuntu usually performs well on Chromebooks. Give it a try!

You can find some helpful installation tips on certain wiki pages! Just search for 'install Linux on HP Chromebook 14 inch' online. If you plan to replace Chrome OS entirely, be prepared; it can get a bit complicated. Also, remember to use an Ethernet cable during installation and remove the boot media afterwards!

Right! I’ve done it with MX Linux before, and I had 4GB of RAM and 30GB of storage available, so it's definitely doable!

The best way to go about this is to check out MrChromebox.tech. You'll need to ensure that your device is supported, which it likely is, but it's good to confirm by looking up the board info. You'll be replacing the firmware, so it will be a clean install. Once you've got that up and running, any Linux distro should be fine, but something lightweight like Xubuntu might be the best choice.
