Help! My New 5070 GPU Won’t Display Anything

I recently upgraded from a 2060 Super to a 5070 GPU, and I've installed everything properly. I'm using a 12 VHPWR cord, which, while it doesn't click into place, seems to fit securely into both the GPU and the power supply. I've double-checked it and pushed the cords in firmly. The GPU fits well in the PCIe slot and locks in place.

However, I'm experiencing an issue where the GPU fans aren't spinning and I'm not getting any display from it. The only way to get a display is by plugging an HDMI cable into my motherboard. I'm not sure what steps to take next. Should I update my BIOS? I haven't done that since January, which is a few months before the 5070 was released. I'm also considering running DDU, although I've never done that before. I was hoping upgrading from a 970 to a 2060 would be simple, and it was with my last setup. Any help would be appreciated!

I was in a similar boat! If your PSU has the 12VHPWR already, that's great. Otherwise, using the adapter from two 8 pins to a 12 VHPWR is a good idea too. Sometimes those new connectors can be tricky. If things don't work out after that, updating your BIOS could definitely be a good next step. Just be careful and follow the update instructions!

It sounds like your GPU might not be getting power properly. Did your power supply come with a 12VHPWR connector, or did you use an adapter? If the fans aren't spinning at all, that's a sign of a power issue. Though it's unlikely, a defective GPU could be the cause, especially if it's new. Just to clarify, I haven't worked with this new 12VHPWR standard, but it could be worth checking that connection again.
