Is an 850W PSU sufficient for an RTX 5070 Ti and a 9800X3D? Any recommendations?

I'm planning to upgrade to an RTX 5070 Ti from my current 4070 Super, but I've heard some people say I need a 1200W PSU for it. That seems excessive — I feel like an 850W PSU should be enough. I currently have an EVGA SuperNOVA 850 G5, and I'm trying to understand if that's adequate. I've also included a link to my full build for reference. I don't intend to overclock anything, and I'm curious if there's anything else that would warrant getting a higher wattage PSU. Plus, if you have recommendations for which RTX 5070 Ti model to go for, I'd love to hear those too!

Stick with the 850W! I'm running an 850W PSU with a Ryzen 7 9800X3D and a 3090, no issues whatsoever. You'll be perfectly fine.

If you're looking at specific models, I found the Gigabyte Gaming OC 5070 Ti on Amazon for $819 and the MSI Shadow3X for $769. Great deals if you're on the hunt!

An 850W is definitely enough for your build. If you ever decide to upgrade to a beefier GPU later, you might want a bigger PSU, but for now, it works. Also, that EVGA unit is high quality — you're in good shape!

Yeah, and the 5070 Ti draws around 300W at max load, plus your CPU won't exceed 100W. You've got plenty of headroom!

Honestly, it's more than enough power. My 9800X3D and 5080 combo pulls about 600W under heavy load, so you won't have problems unless your peripherals are outrageous or something.

Forget about needing a 1200W PSU — that's just not true. An 850W is totally sufficient for your setup. If you're looking to save some cash, just grab the cheapest 5070 Ti. If you want to check out alternatives, the 9070 XT is a solid option for more VRAM at a lower price.

Yeah, the 5070 Ti and 9070 XT both have 16GB of VRAM, so you'll be okay either way.
