How can I get my HP pen to function smoothly on Ubuntu?

I'm planning to make the switch to Linux and have heard great things about Ubuntu as a starting point. However, I'm facing an issue with my HP pen while using it on Ubuntu. It feels incredibly laggy; the touch functionality works perfectly fine, but the pen movement is not as responsive. It's quite frustrating as it hampers my ability to write effectively. I'm currently using Ubuntu 23.04.3 on my HP Omnibook x14 Ultra. Any tips or solutions would be greatly appreciated!

It might be worth noting that version 23.04 is not an LTS (Long Term Support) release, and since it's 2025, you could run into issues with support. I suggest trying to update to a more stable, supported version of Ubuntu. That might help with the pen's performance!

Okay, I'll look into that! I’m new to Linux, so this is a lot to take in 😀

You can try using the kernel boot parameter `acpi_osi=Windows` to resolve compatibility issues with HP's ACPI. It might help improve the responsiveness of your HP pen!

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll give that a shot.

I tried that, but it didn’t seem to change anything for me. Keep me posted if it works for you!
