Should I upgrade to an AM5 CPU or go for a Ryzen 5700X3D or 5800X3D?

I'm looking to upgrade my Ryzen 5 5600X, but I'm concerned about the current prices of the 5700X3D and 5800X3D. The 5700X3D is priced at $365 and the 5800X3D at $540, or $430 if I go for an open box. Considering my setup includes an RTX 4070 and that many of my games are CPU-bound, I'm contemplating whether it's more cost-effective to buy a new AM5 CPU along with a motherboard. However, I know that upgrading to AM5 would also involve purchasing expensive DDR5 RAM, which adds to the overall cost. I'd appreciate any advice on which route would provide the best performance for gaming, especially since I'm currently playing titles like BF6 and Arc Raiders.

I’d hold off on making a purchase right now. Prices for next-gen components might drop, and though the 5800X3D offers decent performance, it limits your future upgrade options. Not too long ago, you could have grabbed a B650 and a 7800X3D with 32GB of DDR5 for around $600, which would outperform the 5800X3D. Plus, there are other CPUs, like the 7700X, that could give you flexibility for upgrades in the future.

Yeah, but the only next-gen parts that are really overpriced are the RAM. CPUs, GPUs, and motherboards are mostly at MSRP. Just keep an eye on the RAM prices, they might not get cheaper anytime soon!
