How Much Are You Paying for Family Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance?

I'm considering a change and trying to gauge what others are paying for health, dental, and vision insurance for family coverage. Currently, I pay around $230 a month for the family plan (me, my wife, and our son). We're generally happy with this plan, although it isn't an HSA option, which we've been looking to avoid. Is my cost on the high, average, or low end compared to what others are experiencing?

Honestly, you're in a pretty good spot. My employer covers around $450 a month for my family, which includes a decent plan. Many folks I know are paying almost double that—like $800 or more for family coverage!

Exactly! I've seen people pay significantly more than what you're shelling out. As long as you're happy with your coverage, it sounds like you’re getting a good deal.

To be upfront, your premium looks to be on the lower end especially if you've got decent coverage. Average family plans can range anywhere from $600 to $1200 a month, depending on the benefits. $230 sounds like a solid deal, but just make sure to factor in your deductible too! That's what can really add up.

I've shopped around, and even plans with higher premiums often come with higher deductibles, which can be a headache. Just keep an eye on that aspect as it can affect your budget too!

I think you're actually doing well! I pay $600 for my family, and it’s quite comprehensive, but it’s a tough pill to swallow. Some friends pay upwards of $1000 a month for their coverage!

Yeah, many people are shocked by how much others pay. It varies wildly across companies and plans, so it’s great you’re paying a reasonable amount!

That seems really low for a family plan! In my experience, most family PPO plans can run pretty high, often over $400 a month. Sounds like your employer might be covering a significant portion of the cost, which is great! How's the coverage been for you guys?

Yeah, it must be as your employer might be subsidizing a good chunk of that cost. I've heard that many employers are adjusting premiums due to rising healthcare costs, so be sure to check if that's the case for you.
