Should I Upgrade to a 5090 with My Current Setup?

I currently have a Ryzen 9 3900X CPU, 64GB of RAM, a 3080Ti GPU, and an Asus TUF Gaming X570-PLUS motherboard. I don't play many games—just an occasional race in iRacing or a couple of rounds of Battlefield 4. My main focus is on Unreal Engine and Generative AI, but I'm feeling limited by the 12GB VRAM, especially when working with multiple 4K textures and high-resolution models. I'm considering upgrading to a 5090 to eliminate VRAM concerns. Will my motherboard and CPU be compatible with the 5090? Also, I'm planning to upgrade my PSU to 1200W. Any insights would be appreciated. Thanks!

If your PSU can handle it, nothing should 'burn out.' You might face some performance bottlenecks, especially at 4K, since that tends to stress the GPU more than the CPU. The 5090 is geared towards tasks like AI and heavy GPU workloads rather than just gaming. If you're mostly gaming, the 5080 would probably give you more than enough power at max settings.

That's good to know! I don't game a lot, but if I do play, will performance drop compared to my 3080Ti because of potential bottlenecks?
